What sparked your interest in a career in the skilled trades?Since I was a kid, I was always fascinated by how things worked in our world. I loved watching the process of how things were made and put together on TV shows and videos like that. I was also interested in science as I progressed further and further through grade school. As I got older I found I was pretty decent at working with my hands. So, I ended up taking an Electricity and Electronics course in High School. I realized after that class, that electricity combined all of the elements of what I was good at and found interesting. After going back and forth my senior year struggling to decide what to do after I graduated, I finally decided on trade school, as I knew it would be the best fit for me.
What school will you be attending? Triangle Tech in Bethlehem, PA. At the time of the composition of this email, I have already started school and am currently a month away from finishing my first semester.
What field of study are you embarking on? The field of study I have selected is the Maintenance Electricity and Construction Technology program.
How did you hear about the 2018 Work Ethic Scholarship?I heard about the Work Ethic Scholarship from one of Triangle Tech's financial advisors, who suggested I attempt the scholarship to help pay for my schooling.
What area of Mike Rowe’s S.W.E.A.T pledge resonates the most with you as your pursue your new career? The area of the S.W.E.A.T. pledge that resonates with me the most is the part about how critical education is to my success. Even after I graduate from school, I never want to stop learning as much about my field as I can. I'm going to attempt to absorb as much information as I can from everyone I meet.
