Where you are from: Wernersville, Pennsylvania
What sparked your interest in a career in the skilled trades? I have always learned better in school with hands on work more so than book or lecture learning, so that gave me the idea to find a career that best suited my needs
What school will you be attending? I am attending Pennsylvania College of Technology
What field of study are you embarking on? I will be studying in the Mopar CAP program
How did you hear about the 2018 Work Ethic Scholarship? I found this scholarship through online research to help fund for my education and this one was very interesting after growing up watching Mike Rowe's Dirty Jobs show, and later in life learning that he is an Eagle Scout which I can relate to.
What area of Mike Rowe’s S.W.E.A.T pledge resonates the most with you as your pursue your new career? The area of the S.W.E.A.T. Pledge that resonates the most with me is #7: "I believe the best way to distinguish myself at work is to show up early, stay late, and cheerfully volunteer for every crappy task there is." This relates to me the most because I go in fifteen minutes early every day, take 30 minute breaks instead of 60 minutes, and stay an extra hour at least every day. And when there is no real work to do as an Auto Technician, I usually ask what else can be done around the shop, even if it means scrubbing the floors or cleaning off benches that haven't been used in years.
